Many are the strong points of this new Polini kit: - 63mm diameter cylinder. redesigned in the transfer case to improve gas flow. Available with a standard 57 mm stroke that develops a displacement of 178 cc. or decidedly more racing with stroke increased to 60 mm to obtain a displacement of 187 cc. An early crankshaft is available for the 60 stroke kit. The cylinder is air-cooled, but thanks to the aluminium and the special design of the fins the engine temperature remains lower. - New head cast in shell and arranged to have two spark plug holes. The classic spark plug hole on the side like the original is the easiest to fit, or the 'Racing' version with a central hole requires a small modification to the plastic of the cowl. Another important feature concerns the fastening points: in addition to the 4 standard fastening points, the Polini head has another 4 that guarantee a greater seal against compression. The finning is enlarged to have the best heat dispersion and the head gasket is made of siliconised steel (not present on the original Vespa) to guarantee maximum tightness during compression between head and cylinder.
