All the major problems with the clutch frame were solved overnight. Since around 1995, the II COSA clutch has been used in all VESPA PX EFL / '98 / MY / '11 models and, of course, the II COSA models built by PIAGGIO. It comes complete with 4 clutch discs, 8 springs and a robust clutch basket design. Due to the increased pressure created by the higher number of springs and the increased surface friction, power can be transmitted more effectively between the engine shaft and the gearbox. Laser-cut precision clutch discs prevent any problems with clutch chatter. No jerking, no slipping, an excellent release point and all this combined with a light, simple clutch lever action, even when using a stronger set of springs. The gear teeth for the II COSA clutch are available with 20, 21, 22 and 23 teeth. Gears with 20 or 22 teeth fit 125-150cc engines and 21 or 23 teeth gears fit 200cc engines without having to replace the primary gear pinion. If, on the other hand, another primary gear or DRT clutch gears are used, more gear ratios are possible. All large models, such as the VESPA VNA/VNB range up to 1994, can be equipped with the COSA II clutch. With these 125-150cc models, the existing clutch cover must be modified due to the larger size of the COSA II clutch conversion, or replaced with the clutch cover from the 200cc engine with a suitable pressure plate. The traditional Italian manufacturer NEWFREN has a version of the COSA II clutch available with a reinforcement ring welded around the outer diameter of the basket and also springs that are stronger than the original components. This 'ring' version must be used on engines tuned up to approximately 15 PS. For all OE VESPA enthusiasts, we also have the original PIAGGIO version in stock. Tip: Unfortunately, the production quality standards of both manufacturers of this clutch system have not always been consistent with the high quality expected from PIAGGIO & CO. We therefore recommend that these clutches be used only in their standard form, at least in original engine configurations. When a reinforcement ring is included, slightly tuned engines can also benefit from this clutch system. However, if the comfort offered by this clutch system is indispensable, even in a highly tuned machine, the use of another more suitable clutch basket manufactured by ourselves, MMW or Scooter & Services is strongly recommended.Art. collegati
