Description
The Malossi range for Vespa offers high-tech products capable of delivering such exceptional performance gains over the standard that other key components of the vehicle also need to be upgraded. Just compare a Vespa PX 200 E produced in 1978, which develops a standard power of 12.35 hp at 5700 RPM, with a Vespa 'tuned' with Malossi kits, which can develop 27.5 hp at 8000 RPM, i.e. more than double the horsepower at an extremely higher rotation speed, to understand that it was absolutely essential to design a clutch assembly capable of withstanding the stresses caused by such a significant increase in performance! Malossi POWER UP CLUTCH SYSTEM clutch assemblies were created to respond to and overcome all the problems that inevitably arise when the clutch assembly technology is not compatible with the other engine components. A traditional clutch, having to transmit more than double the power to the gears while rotating much faster, can lead to failure of the bell under the effect of centrifugal force, causing friction and deformation that result in annoying and unsettling metallic noises, and even the classic clutch slippage caused by insufficient friction developed by the original discs, which, among other things, prevents the transmission of all the power released by the thermal unit, partially nullifying its potential. The two versions of the Malossi POWER UP CLUTCH SYSTEM have common features: POWER UP CLUTCH BASKET clutch bell in high-strength steel with surface hardening treatment to increase wear resistance and, consequently, durability. Reinforcement ring welded with TIG technique on the outer diameter of the bell to effectively counteract the centrifugal force developed by the higher rotation speed. 4 clutch discs with high-performance friction material. Recalculated and reduced coupling tolerances, especially in the connection between the spring push disc and the basket, to eliminate annoying metallic rattling and help increase component life. The two clutches are operated by a series of main springs with a high elasticity coefficient, 6 in the bell for the PX 125 and 7 in the bell for the PX 200 E, and are equipped with a set of auxiliary springs, again 6 for the PX 125 and 7 for the PX 200 E, to be used in higher power configurations. This adjustment allows the user to adapt the clutch to the engine configuration, benefiting from all levels of tuning and all possible set-ups.Feedback
