Vespa ET3 125 cylinder: THE NEW LEGEND Malossi is proud to present to its customers the total rebirth of an authentic legend, one of the longest-running and most successful projects ever associated with our brand: the new and incredible cylinder for Vespa ET3 125. This time, it is made entirely of aluminium. The history of this thermal unit began in 1982, when, for the first time in a cast iron cylinder with this segment, an O-ring was used as a seal between the head and the cylinder, a refined solution that still represents the state of the art today. Malossi took a blank sheet of paper and rewrote its design from scratch, innovating and presenting its customers with a cylinder that rightfully joins the glorious family of MHR thermal units. Aluminium has replaced cast iron and the lamellar pack housing has been completely redesigned, a real revolution that solves the shortcomings of the original Vespa intake dating back to 1982, and is now equipped with a cross member to ensure greater stability of the piston ring. The displacement has been increased to 130 cubic centimetres, while the six transfers are the result of know-how and technology acquired over decades of competition in the world of scooters and applied for the first time in history to a Vespa cylinder capable of reaching very high power and speeds of up to 11,000 rpm. The exhaust has also been completely redesigned and now features a booster, a racing solution that guarantees a large exhaust gas expulsion surface, reducing piston ring fatigue. Malossi's philosophy has always been to provide a complete and powerful plug-and-play solution. Therefore, a complete redesign of the reed valve manifold specific to this thermal unit was a must (code = 2016319 - only for VESPA ET3 PRIMAVERA). Extensive fluid dynamics studies and simulations carried out with futuristic software have made it possible to connect the manifolds perfectly, obtaining an almost completely straight assembly that guarantees the best possible passage from the carburettor to the intake, all while remaining perfectly within the Vespa bodywork. The piston is also brand new, made specifically for this cylinder, now super-lightweight, single-ring and high-performance. THESE COMPONENTS ARE INTENDED FOR COMPETITION AND SPORT USE ONLY TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ALUMINIUM CYLINDER Cylinders obtained by gravity casting in specific steel moulds. Material: primary alloy of high silicon aluminium, tempered and stabilised. Processing: on high-precision numerically controlled machine tools. Barrel with silicon carbide coating in a galvanic nickel matrix and cross-polished with diamond passes with extremely tight tolerances. Recalculated and increased heat exchange surfaces. Exhaust and transfer ducts designed and tested for maximum thermodynamic efficiency. Dimensional and roughness checks in accordance with Malossi standards. Piston-cylinder clearance of 0.005 mm.
