Although it shares some elements with the world of motorcycles, such as gears, the Vespa can be considered the forefather of scooters. Since the Vespa has no crown wheel or pinion and its wheelbase cannot be changed, it is particularly difficult to make the necessary modifications to support each performance increase with the right gear ratio! To solve this problem, Malossi has created a new multiple gearbox for the Vespa, featuring a different and more suitable gear ratio, available in two versions, Sport and Racing, and suitable for use on models from the Special 50 to the ET3 125. Malossi designers have developed two different gear ratios for second, third and fourth gears, specifically calculated for engines more geared towards torque, in the Sport version 6716696 (Z10-14-17-20 cal15), or for engines prepared for the track, in the Racing version 6716207 (Z10-15-18-20 cal 15). The Malossi multiple gearbox is fully interchangeable with the original and requires no modification to its housing. Furthermore, thanks to meticulous research into the correct tooth dimensions, it works perfectly in combination with all other gears. The choice of this precise module has made it possible to keep the wheelbase unchanged. This high-quality technical solution guarantees remarkable reliability and a significant reduction in gearbox noise. TECHNICAL FEATURES • The Malossi multiple gear for Vespa is made exclusively from materials that exceed the strictest standards imposed by our engineers and are systematically verified through rigorous testing and inspection. • The final machining is carried out on numerically controlled machines, after which the Malossi multiple gear is subjected to a complete thermochemical cementation treatment at 900°C, which gives it the required hardness and resistance. • The size and quality of the finished gear are finally checked on Zeiss three-dimensional control machines.
